About Us

About UsJill has been offering Women’s Workshops since 2006. In the summer of 2007, Jill retired from being an elementary school teacher and took a few months to see where her interests led her. Always a fitness junkie, Jill was focusing mostly on yoga at the time. She was encouraged by friends to train to be a yoga instructor. Jill has completed her 500 hours Yoga training, 100 hours Warrior training, and 100 hours Wellness training through Yogafit a certified Teacher Training Program of Yoga Alliance. Jill is a Tantra Yoga Practitioner of Evidence-based Trauma Informed trained through Yogafit.

IAYT definition of Yoga Therapy: Yoga therapy is the professional application of the principles and practices of yoga to promote health and well-being within a therapeutic relationship that includes personalized assessment, goal setting, lifestyle management, and yoga practices for individuals or small groups.

Jill Sand Wellness Consulting continues to grow by offering monthly women’s circles, workshops and retreats. Jill became an ordained minister through Universal Life Church in November of 2011.

Let me tell you more about who I am, what I do, and why I do it.

Teacher… this is the Jill most of you know. I was an elementary teacher for 20 years, some of that time spent teaching teachers and paras. I also taught 3 years of online courses through Minnesota State University in Mankato. In 2007, I started teaching Women’s Circles through Community Education. I started teaching yoga in 2008, which I will continue until I die. Yoga is good for me, and it’s good for you! If you show up on the mat with me, you will be learning new techniques through exploration of poses and breathwork. I don’t invent these techniques or make them up. I take classes and do my own research and bring only PROVEN techniques to you. I am trained as a yoga therapist and continue that training to this day.

Healer… if you have taken a class from me at any time, you have experienced a healing practice. At the bottom of this page is a quote that describes my approach to healing. I don’t typically advertise myself as a healer, but that is the entire intention of my teaching yoga. In my earliest years of teaching yoga, I used to “feel” people’s physical, mental, and emotional issues as they came to a class. I’d be feeling just fine, and then as I walked into the doors of the studio, school, or community center, I’d start to feel something come up, and because I felt it in my body, I’d mention that ache or what I was feeling, and after class, someone would come up and say, “how did you know I was feeling [this]?” To be honest, it was hard for me to take it all in, so after a few years, I called on God and the Angels to direct my teaching toward those healing techniques needed for the clients showing up, without my having to directly experience those issues, and that has continued to this day. Thank God! I have my own issues. lol

Mystic… now we get to the part that I don’t share much with most people. Some of you know part of my story, but I hold a lot back. I will hold some back today as well, because it’s truly my vulnerability. I have been mocked by those who meant well from an early age on. As I get older, I have realized two things: First, I care less about others’ opinions of me, especially those who I don’t know well. And second, I realize that more people also have had these experiences, and by my saying them out loud, it might help you to know you’re not weird or crazy. It wasn’t until I was 16 years old that I realized that most people didn’t remember being in the womb, but I did. Not through words, which weren’t developed then, but through feelings.I also didn’t realize that not everyone could talk telepathically to their dogs and pets, as I did while my dad was sick and dying, and after his death. Babe and then Tuffy gave me their unconditional love during a time when I was grieving so deeply and no one at the time knew how to help. I was a very young child who thought I could do magic. My fear of bears as a young child later became my realization that Bear was my Spirit animal. (I still fear bears!) When I realized that these young experiences weren’t shared with my inner circle, I felt different and like an outsider, so I first tamped them down with alcohol and pot, and later by following the God of the Brain. It wasn’t until we moved out to the country that I became aware of the Little People (most of our neighbors also have seen them) and the elementals (the faeries showed up after Jeff’s mom died), and my Spirit Tree was introduced to me by an advanced Soul who came to a Circle at my home once. During the hardest time in my adult life, I reacquainted with the Angels througn two out of body experiences that assured me there is only LOVE in another dimension which I call Heaven. From that point on, I have been walking two worlds. Depending on who I am with, I adjust to that vibration. It’s been this way for 25 years now.

Who I am not… I am not a social media influencer. I’m not looking for likes or new friends, though I love when you can relate to a post or picture I share on my social media pages. My social media is meant to make you laugh, which I think is medicine, or contemplate, which I think is healing for the Soul, or teach, because that is the essense of who I am.

In a world with several yoga studios in each little town, I feel it’s important to understand what you get when you come to a class with me. I realize I am not for everyone, and the signs of my success is not a full class, but the comment after class from someone who says I offered exactly what they needed. That’s what drives me.

If everything I shared is hitting you right in the vibes of “Yes, me too,” then you might want to consider coming to a class or a workshop, or even mentoring with me. I’ve got nearly 60 years of walking this Planet, and I’ve gained a lot of wisdom that I truly want to share with you. Reach out for more information.
